Barbara-Anne has been teaching Anusara Inspired yoga since 2005.
She came to yoga while building a career in the film and television industry.
It was the daily grind of this lifestyle that led her on a quest for an activity
that would create balance between the constant stressors so inherent
in this field of work and raising a family.
She studied Iyengar yoga for years and attended workshops
with Faeq Biria but her passion grew when she discovered Anusara yoga
founded by John Friend. She has studied with John himself as well as with
Desirée Rumbaugh, Jim Bernaert and Ellen Saltonstall (reputed for her mastery
of yoga therapeutics) along with Sianna Sherman, Todd Norian, Ann Greene
and many more.
She holds a B.A. in psychology from McGill University, is RYT certified
(Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance) and has just completed a 430 hour certification in
Thai Yoga Therapeutic Massage at Lotus Palm in Montreal.
It is the combination of her profound interest in the human condition
and the knowledge that there is a powerful potential for healing through yoga
and Thai Yoga Therapeutic massage, that is at the core of her passion.
“My mission is the exploration of the endless possibilities of the human body
and the human psyche to transform and heal itself through a combination of
biomechanical allignment, self-acceptance and self-awareness. It is in this delicate
balance that we will discover the body’s innate potential for optimal health and well-being”
She is grateful for the support of the Anusara community, especially *Robin Golt
and Barrie Risman, as well as for the opportunity to participate in the transformative
powers of yoga with her students and clients.
*Barbara-Anne’s mentors and teachers as well as certified Anusara Yoga instructors in the Montreal area.
